How long have you been in business?
six months
What is your primary product or service?
Email coaching for people who suffer from ADHD & emotional dysregulation. We offer an 12 week emotional bootcamp service that is email & text based. The service has workbooks, journal entries, and a series of questions to find out the triggers that sets a person off emotionally. This program is offered via email because I understand people with ADHD aren't comfortable talking about such a deep and personal subject to a stranger. Plus, I know asking questions on the spot can throw off a person with ADHD. I understand questions need time to be thought out in order to get a more accurate answer. Asking a questions on the spot and leave people feeling blindsided and unprepared.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have always been interested in understanding my own emotions. I always felt like I was different because you didn't hear about people who had little to no emotional control over their own emotions. It wasn't until I discovered I had ADHD that I learned ADHD played an important part over my emotions. From there I researched everything I could about the effects ADHD had on emotions. I learned about emotional dysregulation and RSD, which both cause emotional problems for people with ADHD. It's important for people to know ADHD gives people the ability to feel emotions 2X as intense than people without ADHD. People with ADHD will feel before ever given the chance to think. This can cause misunderstanding in any type of relationship if not understood correctly. When a person with ADHD is emotionally triggered the person will feel so much emotional turmoil (that isn't an act) that that person becomes so desperate to stop the pain they could attack verbally or physically to the person causing them pain. Almost everyone with ADHD suffers with emotional dysregulation. In short it means your emotions are stronger, you will react before thinking, you will either overreact or underreact, your emotions are too overwhelming for you to handle, and you think in black and white. Thinking in black and white means you can't find a middle ground, it's either you love or hate, always or never, win or lose.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I focus on the worst part of having ADHD, that is emotions. Other coaches focus on what the DSM 5 says is a symptom of ADHD. That is a problem because other coaches usually don't have ADHD. Honestly, I find it impossible for someone to understand ADHD if they have it themselves. Be careful because coaches will lie to you about having ADHD. It is important for people to ask the right questions in order to see if they have ADHD or not.
